Monika Vaicenavičienė is an illustrator and author, working with commercial as well as personal illustration projects and children's picture books. Originally from Vilnius, Lithuania, she is now based in Uppsala, Sweden.

Monika's first published picture book won the national picture book contest organised by IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People) Lithuania. Her second picture book about Jonas Basanavičius and the independence of Lithuania was awarded in a national competition for the best illustrations and was published at the beginning of 2018. Monika's newest picture book about rivers is to appear in early 2019. In 2018, Monika was recognised as a selected illustrator at the Bologna Children's Book Fair.

Monika is also an art director and contributing artist at, an educational comics project about streets of Vilnius.

Monika studied at the Vilnius Academy of Arts (BA Graphics, 2014) and as a visiting student at the Valand Academy of Arts in Gothenburg, University of the Arts London, and the Strzemiński Academy of Fine Arts Łódź. In 2017, she received MFA in Visual Communication at Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm.

Monika takes commisions on illustrated storytelling projects, event identity and branding, book illustration, album artwork, posters, custom animated or printed greetings, educational visuals – but she is always open to discuss projects that do not fall into these categories!
